As part of efforts to foster religious harmony and community support, the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly gave some donations to the Muslim Community within the Ayawaso West Municipality, on the 5th of June 2025 ahead of the 2025 Eid-ul-Adha Celebration. This donation took place at some selected mosques within the municipality namely Tesano Mosque, Legon Mosque, Abelemkpe Mosque, La Bawaleshie Mosque, Okponglo Central mosque. The presentation was led by Dr. Micheal Mensah (Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly), Hon. John Dumelo ( MP -Ayawaso West Wuoguon Constituency), and Mr. Benard K.P. Sakyiama (Municipal Coordinating Director Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly). Also present during the donations included the assembly members for the respective areas of the mosques and some Heads of Departments.
In his address, Dr. Micheal Mensah (Ayawaso West MCE) stated that this donation is to enable the underprivileged members of the community who may not be able to afford a sacrificial animal to fully partake in the celebrations as well as be included in the joy and significance of the Eid. He further took the opportunity to advised the resident on some key civic issues especially during this festive period. He emphasized the need to maintain proper sanitation habit and exercise caution on the roads by adhering to road safety rules when using motor vehicles specifically motor bikes. Also, Hon John Dumelo (MP-Ayawaso West Constituency) added that this initiative is aimed at supporting the Muslim Community during one of Islam’s most important religious festivals which involves the symbolic act of sacrificing and sharing.
The items were received by the Imams of the respective mosques for which on the behalf of the Muslim community, they expressed their appreciation for the timely support and acknowledged the Assembly’s continuous effort in fostering peaceful coexistence across religious lines.
