In a powerful demonstration of faith in action and civic duty, the Accra Ghana Medina Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in collaboration with the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly organized a comprehensive community outreach program on 15^th August 2026 at the University of Ghana Hospital, Legon. The impactful exercise featured a robust combination of public health initiatives, environmental sanitation, and community service.

The day's events went far beyond a standard clean-up, bringing together church members, local leadership, and community stakeholders for a holistic day of service. The outreach program kicked off with several vital activities aimed at uplifting the hospital grounds and supporting local healthcare infrastructure:

• Cleanup & Grounds Maintenance: Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clear overgrown weeds, de-silt gutters, and sweep paths around the University of Ghana Hospital premises to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
• Beautification & Painting: Participants engaged in painting projects and general property touch-ups to refresh the surroundings and improve the healing environment for patients.
• Life-Saving Blood Donation: A massive blood donation drive was successfully coordinated to help stock the national blood bank and various local hospitals, addressing critical shortages during emergencies.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon Dr. Michael Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso West Municipal Municipal Assembly, emphasized that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility that directly impacts community well-being. "Sanitation is a shared responsibility. When we do it, it will renew to everybody's benefit," Dr. Mensah stated. He highlighted that cleaning the environment and clearing gutters helps prevent preventable illnesses like malaria by destroying mosquito breeding sites, while also urging other religious bodies to emulate the church's proactive example.

Elder Dennis Okanse, Africa West Area Seventy of the Church, noted that the annual outreach stems from core Christian values of giving back to society and serving as keepers to one's neighbors. He explained that the initiative encompasses tree planting, weeding, painting projects, and blood donations to teach members the importance of living the two great commandments: loving God and loving one's neighbor.

The community-driven event drew high praise from traditional leaders . Mr Abe, a linguist representing Mempeasem Palace, commended the Church for its noble initiative and pledged the full backing of traditional authorities for future collaborative projects aimed at community development.

Additional leaders in attendance—including Alexander Anson, First Counselor of the Accra Ghana Medina Stake Presidency, and Elder Daniel Odame of the Church of Pentecost, Medina District—expressed heartfelt appreciation to all participants for dedicating their time, energy, and resources to the successful execution of the exercise.
