The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly on 5th October 2026 has taken immediate action following the emergence of an unauthorized market at the Tetteh Quashie Roundabout within the municipality.
The Assembly’s Task Force, together with the relevant department and security agencies, intervened to clear traders and trading structures from the area to restore order and protect public safety. The Tetteh Quashie Roundabout is a major traffic corridor, and allowing trading activities to develop there poses risks to pedestrians, motorists and worsened traffic congestion, while also creating sanitation and environmental concerns.
The action taken against the unauthorized market at the Tetteh Quashie Roundabout demonstrated the importance of maintaining order, ensuring public safety, and protecting major roads and transport intersections from unapproved commercials activities. Sustained enforcement, public education, and provision of suitable trading spaces would be essential to preventing a recurrence of the situation. The Assembly will continue to monitor the area and take the necessary steps to prevent the re-emergence of unauthorized trading.
We urge all residents and traders to cooperate with the Assembly as we work together to keep Ayawaso West clean, safe and orderly.
