SHIASHIE ZONAL COUNCIL OFFICE INAUGURATION

17.Sep.2026

The Shiashie Zonal Council has officially inaugurated its zonal council office in a ceremony held on Wednesday, 16th September 2026, to formally introduce the newly constituted council and acquaint members with their roles and responsibilities. The ceremony marked an important step in strengthening local-level administration and creating a closer link between the community and the relevant municipal authorities. The newly established office is expected to provide a platform through which issues affecting residents can be identified, discussed, and channelled through the appropriate structures.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Mrs. Betty Mantey. The prayer sought guidance and blessings for the council and its members as they assume their respective responsibilities and work towards the development of the Shiashie community. Present at the event were; The Municipal Deputy Director - Ms. Asbiokor Osei-Frimpong, The Presiding Member - Emmanuel Adjei Tutuani, Godfred Ashie Dzane representing the Mempeasem Traditional Council, I Nii Odoi Anang - Elder for Okponglo Traditional Council, Assembly Members and Heads of Department.

Following the opening prayer, the Municipal Deputy Director (MDD) delivered remarks to officially set the tone for the programme. In the remarks, the importance of the Zonal Council and its role in grassroots administration were highlighted. Members were encouraged to take their responsibilities seriously and work together to ensure the effective functioning of the council.

The programme continued with the Presiding Member's speech and the introduction of the newly constituted members of the Shiashie Zonal Council. The newly constituted team includes a Zonal Secretary, Budget Officer, Finance Officers, Disaster Management Officer, Environmental Officers, and Internal Auditors.

Among the areas discussed was the need for the council to work effectively with residents and other relevant stakeholders in addressing issues within the community. Members were also reminded of the importance of accountability, proper administration, financial responsibility, environmental management, and disaster preparedness in the performance of their duties.

The payment of rates forms part of the relationship between the council and the community, with residents contributing towards the resources needed to support local administration and development. The council is therefore expected to continue engaging residents and creating awareness about their responsibilities in this regard.

The programme concluded with closing remarks from the Chairperson of the Shiashje Zonal Council. The Chairperson expressed appreciation to all those who participated in the inauguration and supported the establishment of the council office.

The inauguration of the Shiashie Zonal Council office therefore marks the beginning of a new phase of grassroots administration in the area. With the newly constituted members formally introduced and oriented on their functions and responsibilities

the council is expected to work closely with residents and municipal authorities to promote effective administration and contribute to the development of the Shiashie community.
