Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly and Hisense Partner to Bolster Security at University of Ghana

In a powerful demonstration of public-private partnership, the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with electronic giant Hisense, has donated a fleet of operational vehicles to the University of Ghana.

The presentation ceremony, held at the University of Ghana, brought together officials from the Assembly, representatives of Hisense, members of the university community, and officers from the Security Services Department

Speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah emphasized the importance of strengthening security within educational institutions to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The MCE stated that security remains a shared responsibility and called on the university’s security personnel to make effective and responsible use of the vehicles and motorcycles. According to the MCE, the donation was not merely to provide transportation, but to enhance rapid response, improve patrol visibility, and support the overall safety structure of the university

 

Touching on safety measures, the MCE encouraged officers to strictly observe road safety regulations while carrying out their duties on campus. The officers were urged to prioritize professionalism, discipline, and caution at all times, especially when responding to emergencies or conducting patrols within the university community.

The MCE also highlighted the need for continuous collaboration between local government authorities, private institutions, and educational establishments in promoting development and security. The Assembly, the MCE noted, remains committed to supporting institutions within the municipality through partnerships that positively impact lives and public service delivery.

Representing the corporate partner, the Showroom Manager for Hisense delivered a brief statement reaffirming the company’s dedication to impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The manager noted that providing a secure environment for tertiary education is a collective duty. "At Hisense, we believe that academic excellence thrives best in an atmosphere of absolute safety. We are proud to partner with the Assembly to equip the university's security team, and we are confident that these assets will significantly boost their day-to-day operations," the manager remarked.Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, Registrar of the University of Ghana, received the donation on behalf of the university and expressed profound gratitude to the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly and Hisense for the generous gesture.

She noted that the donation would significantly strengthen the operational capacity of the university’s Security Services Department and improve security patrols and emergency response across campus.

The ceremony ended with the official handing over of the vehicles and motorcycles, followed by photographs and interactions between university officials, assembly representatives, and staff of Hisense.
