The Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly Hon Dr. Michael Mensah on Saturday 21st February 2026 held a community engagement with residents of Legon at Drums Village in the University of Ghana on activities of the Assembly. The purpose of this meeting was to solicit the concerns of residents to enable the assembly to address them appropriately for effective communal development. The meeting brought together several residents of the electoral area, unit committee members and opinion leaders. Also present at the occasion were Representative of the Assemblyman Mr. Prince Amoah, Director of Security Operations (University of Ghana), Municipal Director of NHIA, Student leaders some officials of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly.
The MCE expressed his appreciation to all residents and stakeholders for honoring the meeting. He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to find out their problems to enable the assembly factor them into their plans and to appropriately resolve them, hence, they should not hesitate to bring their problems into activities of the Assembly.
Being given the opportunity, the residents warmly welcomed the MCE and his entourage and commended them for such initiative. Amongst the concerns raised were accommodation issues for students, rise in hostel fees, inadequate streetlights, water shortage on campus, transportation issues, drainage issues at the night market, monopoly of photography by management during congregation, security concerns, the essence of the Get Fund, lack of secondary schools on the Legon Campus. Also, residents were educated on available jobs by the Youth Employment Agency to help resolve unemployment issue.
The concerns of the residents were noted by the MCE and his team for which they provided appropriate responses to the concerns raised. He assured the residents that the Assembly would try their possible best to provide solutions to all issues raised and further thanked them for making the meeting a success.
