The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly participated in the Make Ghana Green exercise also known as the “Tree for Reforestation Initiative” on Friday, 27th of June 2025 at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange. This event was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Hon. Dr. Micheal Mensah, and the Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Theophilus Gakpo with support from some Assembly Members and other officials the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly.
Addressing the media and attendees, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Micheal Mensah stated that the essence of the exercise was to “green out” the municipality. He added that the event space has not been fully utilized hence, the Assembly will take steps to transform it into a green accessible space that offers free relaxation facilities. Hon. Dr. Micheal Mensah noted that such free relaxation spaces are common in most international cities however, in Ghana especially Accra, free public space for relaxation have been limited and restricted to shopping malls. He further emphasized that this initiative would provide immense benefit to residents of the municipality.
He expressed gratitude to all who participated in the event and urged NADMO officials to ensure the trees planted grow well and be maintained properly.
