AYAWASO WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY GETS NEW PRSIDING MEMBER

The Honorable Assembly Members of the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly elected a new Presiding Member at a General Assembly meeting held on 12th March 2026. According to the Local Governance Act, Act 936, a Presiding Member must be elected every two years with at least two-thirds majority vote of the Assembly body which includes the Member of Parliament, Government Appointees and the Municipal Chief Executive. As part of the responsibilities, the Presiding Member is required to preside over the meetings of the Assembly, ensure the non-partisan functioning of the local government body and perform other duties assigned.

The election was held under the oversight of the Electoral Commission body for the Ayawaso West Constituency.  The newly elected Presiding Member, Hon. Emmanuel Adjei Tutuani, who doubles as the Assembly Member for the Mempeasem Electoral area, stood as the only nominee and  through a YES/NO vote secured an endorsement from 19 Members of the Assembly body  representing 95%  of vote casted.

This event was observed by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Assembly Officials,  Media and other invited guests.
