AWMA SUPPORTS NATIONAL APPRENTISEHIP PROGRAM

The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly through the auspices of the Municipal Youth Employment Officers presented working tools to master crafts persons and apprentices who have been newly enrolled on the National Apprenticeship Program in the Ayawaso West Municipality. This exercise was executed through a ceremony held on Friday 24th April 2026 at the AWMA Assembly Hall. The occasion was honored by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah, the Regional Coordinator for National Apprenticeship Program, Mr. Jones Klutse, the Municipal YEA Officer, some officials of the Assembly master crafts persons and apprentices.

Giving his address, the Regional Coordinator for the National Apprenticeship program emphasized that the aim of the National Apprenticeship program is to solve unemployment in the country thus they should not undermine skills straining. Whilst urging the apprentices to commit themselves to learning the skills they have chosen to study, he mentioned that some great nations like Germany have built their economy on skill training thus the path of skill training would be of great benefit to their families and country at large. Also, he highlighted the tools to be presented are to be used for the learning process thus handled properly, after completion of training new set of tools would be distributed to support their start up.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah added that this program seeks to empower the youth with skills for them to be self-reliant financially. He urged that they should recommend the program to other publics to help grow an industrious economy in the municipality and the country.

The items included welding machine and helmet, safety boots, hand machine, the industrial sewing machine, electrical tool sets, masonry tool sets, carpentry tool sets and amongst others.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the support and assured that they would study and work diligently with what they have received.
