The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly on Monday 24^th August 2026 presented assorted items to the Ga traditional councils in the Municipality towards the celebration of the 2026 Homowo Festival. The items which included bags of maize, bags of onions, gallons of palm oil, cartons of bottled water,handsome amount of money, was presented to the La Bawaleshie, Shiashie, Okponglo, Mempeasem, Dzorwulu-Abelemkpe and Abotsiman traditional councils within the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Michael Mensah, and Hon. John Setor Dumelo assisted by The Presiding Member, Hon. Emmanuel Adjei Tutuani, and some Heads of Department of the Assembly presented the items on behalf of the Assembly to the Traditional Council. In a brief remark, Dr. Michael Mensah stated that the presentation formed part of the Assembly's support to the Ga community towards the celebration of the Homowo festival. He advised them that even though the celebration is essential should celebration activities be  moderately due to the upraising of road accidents. He advice motorist should practice safety measures on their roads. Also, even though sanitation has improved, they should continue to engage in the sanitation exercises and make sanitation their priority during this celebrations. He further expressed his gratitude for the Chiefs support and prayers for the Assembly.  

The traditional chiefs also expressed their gratitude for the gesture, promising that hopefully there would be no fatal incident during and after the celebrations. They took the opportunity to request for employment for their youth.
