The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly in partnership with Auburn University Outreach Global (Alabama State, USA) organized a 5-day free health screening exercise for residents of the Municipality from 10^th – 14^th June 2025.

This initiative which took place in two phases: 10^th -12^th June at the Mempeasem Hospital, Mempeasem and 13^th & 14^th June 2025 at the St. Pauline Hospital, North Dzorwulu aimed to detect, manage, and raise awareness of common health conditions affecting residents in the Municipality.

The wide range of services provided include vital checks, body mass index (BMI) assessment, eye screening, nose, ear and throat examination (ENT), blood tests (blood sugar and cholesterol level), general medical consultation and counselling, medication prescription and administration.  The event was graced by the presence of the Greater Accra Regional Health Director, Dr. Robert Amesiya, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Micheal Mensah, and the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Bernard K.P. Sakyiama

As part of the exercise, Auburn University Outreach Global team donated to the Children’s Ward of the Newly built Mempeasem Hospital in the Municipality. The items presented include baby diapers, wipes, sanitary pads among others which were received by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Micheal Mensah and the Municipal Health Director, Dr. Ekua Boamah Addy.

The Director of Auburn University Outreach Global, Dr. Elizabeth I. Quansah indicated that the Outreach Team is officially adopting the Childrens Ward of the Mempeasem hospital and assured the MCE of continuous sponsorship with essential items.

She expressed her appreciation to all key players who made the outreach program a success and urged people to give attention to their health from time to time.
