AWMA SUPPORTS MUNICIPAL YOUTHS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs)

The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly through the auspices of the Municipal Social Welfare and Community Development Department and the Municipal Business Advisory Center supported some youths and PWDs with items to aid their economic life. This exercise was executed through a durbar held on Thursday 18th December 2025 at the Forecourt of the La Bawaleshie Chief Palace. The occasion was graced with the presence of some the Regional Director for Business Advisory Center (BAC), some Traditional authorities, Assembly members, Officials of the Assembly and other invited guests.

Addressing the people present specifically to the PWD’s, the MCE Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah emphasized that disability is not inability thus they should put into good use the items and monies which would be given to them. Also, to the new artisan, he urged them to be innovative and always seek to improve their skills since there is more to explore in their line of work. He then encouraged both group to use their skills to contribute to the growth of the economy of Ayawaso West Municipality.

The items donated to the PWDs included laptops, refrigerators, a baking oven with a cylinder, an industrial sewing machine, cash price and amongst others. These items were given to support their economic life specifically to help them improve their careers which would in turn generate income for them.   Also, some youth in the municipality who had completed their hand skill training period specifically hairdressing and tailoring were supported with startup kits – a hair dryer or a hand sewing machine based on one’s specialty.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Assembly for their support and assured that they would work with what they have received to improve their lives and to benefit their communities at large.
