The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly marked its 69th Independence Day on Friday, March 6th 2026, under the theme ‘‘Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope’’ at La Bawaleshie Presby Basic 2 School Park.
The event witnessed the presence of key figures including the Municipal Chief Executive Hon, Dr. Michael Mensah, Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Gordon Dormayele, Member of Parliament- Honorable John Setor Dumelo, Presiding member- Honorable Benjamin Oklah, the Municipal Director of Education – Mrs. Judith Amoateng Aning, Heads of Departments, School heads and other stakeholders of the municipality.
The Municipal Director for Education, Mrs.Judith Amoateng Aning,in her welcome stated that education constitutes the fundamental bedrock upon which sustainable prosperity is built. She added that the Municipal Education Directorate is pushing forward initiatives to boost academic performance, expand access to Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM ) education as well as ensure the inclusivity of every child. She further appreciated the stakeholders, school heads, teachers and pupils for their contribution to education in the municipality and that may this celebration renew their strength and commitment to the growth of education in the Ayawaso West Municipality.
Giving his address, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah, extended a warm welcome to all the attendees. He highlighted that the year’s celebration was both timely and instructive as it reflected a continuation of our national journey toward strengthening economic growth while also rekindling the confidence and optimism of citizens. He also noted that Ghana had experienced periods of progress, challenges and transformation, but the Ghanaian spirit had remained resilient. He urged Ghanaians to continue working tirelessly in other to build a stable and prosperous society where every citizen would have an opportunity to thrive.
Awards were also presented to all the schools for participating in the parade, and the three best schools who emerged as winners in the parade competition. The overall best 2025 BECE candidates both male and female of the Ayawaso West Constituency were awarded with plaques and cash prices.
