The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly held a SOD cutting event on the 3^rd February 2026 at Opportunities Industrialization Institute (OIC), Shiashie for the construction of a community clinic. The SOD cutting ceremony was led by the MCE Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah and the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Hon John Setor Dumelo. To witness the symbolic start of this project were some key stakeholders including Shiashie Traditional Council, some officials of the Assembly, school administrators, Assembly members and community residents of Shiashie.

Speaking at the ceremony, the MCE Hon. Dr. Michael Mensah, stated that hospitals play a vital role in providing specialized and emergency healthcare services, however, clinics serve as a first point contact for most healthcare needs so, the establishment of this clinic is a strategic step towards bridging healthcare gap within the municipality.

Also, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Setor Dumelo emphasized that the clinic will bring healthcare closer to the people, closer to the community so that many lives can be saved and many patients can be given quality healthcare.
